An Oboe Enthusiast since my youth, I play, collect and research 18-19th century oboes and their replicas. My research on oboe history has appeared in Double Reed (historical oboes in general), J American Musical Instrument Society (the heckelphone, the early saxophone, English straight-top oboes), Galpin Society Journal (the Boehm oboe, the oboes of Triebert), Larigot.
My collection includes historical instruments by Sattler, Cahusac, Milhouse, Grenser, Triebert, Uhlmann, Bauer, Golde, Zuleger, Mønnig, and others; and period instruments by Bosworth, Dalton, vas Dias, Ecochard, Hailperin, Haynes and Robinson. My oldest daughter tells me that I have "more oboes than brains" and, well, I am unable to argue with her.
If you have a modern hautboy from before 1980, or an instrument by Triebert of Paris, please let me know, I would appreciate some information for one of my many research studies.
My day jobs are as the father of two daughters and as a physician.
